The seventh book in the Armchair Theologian series, published by Westminster John Knox Press, will be available in June. Barth for Armchair Theologians, by John R. Franke, is illustrated by Ron Hill, with a color cover and 80 interior black and white cartoons. The series will soon be published in foreign-language editions in Germany and Japan. Laurel Winters' Seasons (left) was used as the cover art for the St. Albans Girls Choir album, released in 2006. Claudia Lynch is pleased to have had her first design job in her part-time city of New Orleans. It's a small ad for the Lafitte Guest House. There's no illustration in it but it's a milestone all the same. Image at left.

Awards

Claudia Lynch's brochure design for The Kraft Group / Morgan Stanley has been awarded the RIS Diamond Award for Excellence in Print and Design as well as the PIANKO (Print Industries Association, Inc.) Gold Award. Milan Kecman has been awarded a First Place Cleveland Press Club Award in the Single Illustration, Daily Newspaper category. Claudia Lynch's New Orleans Tryptich has been awarded Best in Show honors at the ArtHouse/SEAN annual members exhibition. The show opens April 6 and runs through the rest of the month at Arts Collinwood.

True Colors was the 2007 Annual NOIS Juried Members' Exhibition. Check out the Show Archive. Cathie Bleck: 13 Years of Artistic Expression opened at the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain Connecticut on February 8, 2008, and runs through April 27th. This is Cathie's first museum exhibition. Click HERE for photos and info (image at far left). Milan Kecman, Ron Hill and George Kocar are participants in the 2007 GuitarMania. Milan's design Cleveland Cats (left) has been selected for sponsorship by the Plain Dealer. George Kocar's painting "Cubist Cats and Cows" was selected for WATERCOLOR USA at The Springfield Museum of Art, Springfield, Missouri. Claudia Lynch's solo exhibition ShoeStories opeed at Local Girl Gallery in Lakewood, OH on November 9, 2007 and runs continually. See all the pieces at www.claudialynch.com/shoestories.html. Introducing the premier release of Open Spaces, a memoir by scratchboard artist Cathie Bleck. There will be book signings at the I-Space Gallery in Chicago on Saturday, August 5, from 3-6 PM, and at Heights Arts at the Library, Cleveland Heights/University Heights Main Library, on September 15th, from 5pm-9pm.

Caricature of Danny DeVito by Ron Hill for the indie film The OH in Ohio, that takes place in Cleveland and was filmed there in March/April of 2004. Danny DeVito plays Wayne the Pool Guy, and the commissioned caricature was used prominently in 5 scenes, as the logo on the side of Wayne's van and in his TV commercial. Ron was told by the unit director that DeVito liked it.
