The NOISmaker Award is given each year in recognition of consistent and enthusiastic promotion of the art of illustration by a member of the Northern Ohio design community. Nominations and entries for the NOISmaker Award are welcomed throughout the year. Any body of work (minimum of 6 pieces) produced between June and the following June of each year is eligible. Nominees must showcase and further the advancement of illustration and artistic expression. Nominees are judged by the current board of NOIS. NOIS retains rights to show winning entries in directories and NOIS promotions and on the website. The NOISmaker Award is presented at the opening of the annual members' exhibition. Ted Crow Ted Crow currently lives in Cleveland, where he works as an illustrator for hire and is a staff illustrator for Cleveland's major newspaper, The Plain Dealer. Ted spent most of his professional life in Pittsburgh, first at the now defunct Pittsburgh Press and then at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. His illustrations won many local and state awards, and also several Print Magazine and Society of Newspaper Design awards. Freelance clients include The Chicago Tribune, The Arizona Republic and The Austin American Statesman. |

Norman Green As an award-winning illustrator and designer of over 35 years, Norman Green's commercial experience enhances the way he composes and executes a painting. He has an endless fascination for flowers and creatures; in his paintings, he explores shapes, textures, colors and the light that illuminates them. His works have been exhibited at the Museum of Decorative Arts Louvre, Society of Illustrators and the Marin Arts Festival. |

Marc Burkhardt Utilizing the cultural symbols found in everything from Byzantine icons, Mexican retablos, American folk art and circus sideshow banners, Marc Burkhardt's work employs the language of historical styles to convey modern ideas and themes. his work has been commissioned by National Geographic, Rolling Stone, Time, Major League Baseball, Arena Stage, Comcast, The New York Times and Random House. |

Gary Thomas Gary Thomas is an a ccomplished commercial artist with over 30 years of experience. Specializes in sports illustration, hisartwork is characterized by action and realism, demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of human anatomy in motion. Gary works with a variety of media, with acrylic paints most often the media of choice. Since its 1963, the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio has commissioned him to produce illustrations of enshrinees for display in the Hall. As of 2004, he illustrated 140 of the 225 enshrinees, including Jim Brown, Vince Lombardi, Pete Rozelle, Bobby Mitchell, Marion Motley, Paul Warfield, Jim Thorpe, Mike Ditka, Alan Page, Bart Starr, Walter Payton, and Joe Montana. In 1984, he was commissioned to create twelve murals depicting "Twelve Great Moments in Bowling" for the newly built Bowling Hall of Fame & Museum in St. Louis, Mo. As artist for the U. S. Olympic Hall of Fame, he has painted 54 of the 78 enshrinees, including Carl Lewis, Greg Louganis, Wyomia Tyus, Ralph Boston, Sugar Ray Leonard, Floyd Patterson, Donna DeVarona, and Edwin Moses. In conjunction with Goal Line Art, Gary has produced 16 sets of limited edition collector cards depicting all of the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinees through 2004. |
