KRISTEN STUART
Kristen Stuart owes much of her talent and experience to the #2 thing in life: the yellow pencil. In juried exhibitions at Lakeland Community College, awards include Best in Show for Graphic Design and Best in Show for Illustration. She is currently an adjunct faculty member at Cuyahoga Community College in the Visual Communications & Design Department. She would engage me in games with pencil and paper. These drawing games were fun, and had an air of mystery and discovery. When the weekend was over, she’d return to William-Smith College, where she was an instructor of drawing and painting. Decades later, I was doing an exercise in a Life Drawing class when I became aware I had done the same thing before. To my astonishment, I realized that my Gam had been teaching me college level drawing exercises when I was 10 years old! So, here’s to you Gam. In your honor, I raise my pencil high. |
